Firmware Upgrades
It is
essential
that you read the Install.info and the release notes which
come with the patch before attempting to upgrade the firmware.
Caution –
There are issues you must be aware of before upgrading. For
example, SSC1 must be upgraded first. Failure to do so may result in
crashed domains.
Check out the issues with 5.13.x firmware and above at the URL lower down the
page.
You do not have to have any domains defined to upgrade the
firmware; indeed you do not need the Fireplane switches powered
on. The path to the firmware is via the console bus and bootbus.
The following components have flash PROMs:
●
System controller boards
●
System boards
●
I/O boards (cPCI and PCI)
Note –
The master system controller board cannot update the firmware in
a
redundant (slave) system controller board.
The Sun Fireplane switch boards do not have flash PROMs.
The
flashupdate
is available in the system controller platform shell only.
Do you need to flashupdate?
Firmware is available from sunsolve, in the form of a patch. Refer to
http://pts-americas.west/esg/msg/techinfo/platform/sun_fire/firmware-matrix/
for patch numbers and supported revisions
Use
showboards -p version
(or
showboards -p proms
)
&
showsc
to show the revision of your firmware.
