6.1 – Engine
The engine has a break-in period, which runs for the first 50 working hours. It is important
that, during this period, the engine is not subjected to the high rates of acceleration or maximum
torque to assure its durability, working safety and economy.
Some recommendations must be followed during the break-in period, to guarantee
engine life:
- inspect the engine oil level;
- inspect the water level of the engine cooling system;
- avoid over-speeding the engine in lower gears;
- avoid over-stressing the engine while the normal operating temperature has not been reached;
- avoid equipment overload;
- avoid running the engine in lower gears for prolonged periods;
- the engine working temperatures should be kept between 75ºC and 95ºC.
- Maintenance and lubrication standards should be rigorously followed.
Regarding the fuel system, always use clean fuel, water free, free of suspended particles,
sand, impurities, etc. The fuel must be centrifuged as per Brazilian standard CNP-04, or
associated ASTM norms.
Daily drain the fuel system through the element fuel filter.
Before operating the engine, check the following items:
- water level;
- fuel level;
- engine oil level;
-air filter element cleanliness;
- follow all operation and maintenance instructions;
- use clean and centrifuged fuel and recommended lubrication oils;
- use only original spare parts and filters;
- in the event of any irregularities, seek an authorized dealer. Do not allow unauthorized
personnel to perform any engine repairs, for this will cancel out any warranties;
- be sure that the engine is cool, before doing any maintenance or initiating work on the engine;
- disconnect the negative battery cable before performing any work.
NOTE: Read carefully the MWM engine manual supplied with your machine.
