There is no sound.
Make sure the “WALKMAN” is securely connected
to the WM-PORT.
It may take time to start playback depending on the
contents.
Internet
The unit cannot connect to the Internet.
Confirm the network status. Enter the Settings menu
and select [Network setting] – [Check connections]
(page 105).
Confirm the network setting or consult your Internet
service provider.
Make sure the broadband router setting is correct.
For details on the broadband router setting, refer to
the operating manual of the router and the materials
provided by the Internet service provider.
When the unit is connected directly to a modem
without a built-in router, you cannot connect to the
Internet. Make the connection through a broadband
router.
If your contract with your Internet service provider
limits Internet connection to one device at a time,
the unit will not be able to access the Internet when
another device is already connected.
Consult your Internet service provider.
When the unit is connected through a wireless
network, electromagnetic radiation may sometimes
prevent it from connecting to the Internet.
The unit cannot connect to ADSL.
You may have mixed up the DSL port and TEL
(telephone) port on the splitter while connecting
cables.
Check to see whether the lights on an ADSL modem
and a broadband router are correctly lit up. Refer to
the operating manuals of the equipments.
The unit cannot access the Internet through a
wireless network.
Make sure the wireless adaptor is compatible. For
information on compatible models, refer to the
customer support site of Sony Europe, http://support.
sony-europe.com/ (for customers in Europe only).
Wireless networks are influenced by electromagnetic
radiation emitted by microwave ovens and other
devices. If the unit is near such a device, connect
the wireless adaptor extension cable to the wireless
adaptor and move it to a location with better
reception.
Use the wireless adaptor extension cable to move the
wireless adaptor to a location with better reception.
The security level for the AOSS connection has
fallen (WEP 128, etc.).
If the security level for the AOSS connection has
fallen for some reason, press the RESET button on
the wireless station with a pointed tip, such as a small
pin, and then do the AOSS setup again (page 100).
HOME NETWORK
When the unit is used as a client
You cannot connect to the server (an error
message appears).
Confirm the network status. Enter the Settings menu
and select [Network setting] – [Check connections]
(page 105).
Confirm the network setting or consult your Internet
service provider.
Make sure that the IP address of this unit is correctly
obtained. If [DHCP] is set to [All auto] and the IP
address is obtained correctly, the IP address will
appear in the display (pages 103 and 104). If the IP
address does not appear, check the following items.
Make sure the broadband router is turned on
before you turn on the unit.
Make sure that the method of obtaining the IP
address is correct for your network environment
(page 99).
Check that the initial settings for the server have
been correctly made.
If the ICF (Internet Connection Firewall) function is
active in the server, this may prevent the unit from
connecting to the server. In this case, deactivate the
ICF function.
Make sure the registration of the unit has been
correctly made on the server side.
Even if you erase the registration of the unit from the
server, the server may appear in the selectable server
list of this unit.
