On/Standby indicator flashes (red).
The speaker-protection function has been activated.
In this case, disconnect the power cord from the wall
outlet and check the speaker cable. If there are no
abnormalities, such as a short-circuit, check that the
On/Standby indicator is not lit, and then reconnect
the power cord to the wall outlet.
The remote control does not work.
An inverter circuit for a fluorescent lamp is near the
unit. Move the unit away from the circuit.
“Audio data is corrupted” appears in the display.
Select [Repair].
The unit vibrates or noise is heard from the
ventilation hole.
The vibration is caused by the fast rotation of the
hard disk and the noise by the cooling fan. These are
normal and not malfunctions.
Vibration or noise in the unit increases during
recording of a CD.
The hard disk rotates faster during CD recording
than during CD playback, so the increase in
vibration or noise is not a malfunction.
The amount of vibration or noise produced depends
on the CD type.
About repairing the hard disk drive
The contents of the hard disk drive may be
checked in case of repair or inspection during
a malfunction or modification. However, the
contents will not be backed up or saved by Sony.
If the hard disk needs to be formatted or
replaced, it will be done at the discretion of
Sony. All contents of the hard disk drive will be
erased, including contents that violate copyright
laws.

The unit does not turn on.
Connect the 12V AC power adaptor firmly to the
unit and to a wall outlet (page 134).
The unit’s internal system may be malfunctioning, or
the unit may be suffering from strong electrical noise
caused by power supply abnormalities due to being
dropped, excessive static electricity, or lightning. In
this case, disconnect the 12V AC power adaptor, wait
about 30 seconds, and then reconnect it.

unit enters standby mode.
An AC power adaptor other than the one that was
supplied is being used and an abnormally high
voltage level is being input. Use the supplied 12V AC
power adaptor.
“The internal temperature of the device is too
high.” appears, and the unit enters standby
mode. The On/Standby indicator flashes (no
message appear on the display while the unit is
in the standby mode).
If you use this unit at high-volume levels for a long
time, the internal temperature of the unit may
become too high. Turn off the unit, wait for a while
until it cools down, and then turn on again.
