Hydro Pump Removal
1. Drain transaxle oil by removing the breather hose
assembly and positioning the transaxle so the
breather port is at lowest point of transaxle to allow
oil to drain thoroughly.
Note:
The lip seals must not be re-used during
reassembly
2. Remove the oil lines (hoses and fittings) and the oil
filter from the transaxle so that as much oil as possi-
ble can be drained from the housings.
Note:
Hoses may have to be removed from some fit-
tings. If hoses are removed from the fittings, new hoses
and fittings will be necessary during reassembly to pre-
vent leaks and possible failure.
3. Inspect the oil lines and fittings for damage. Replace
components if damaged in any way.
4. Using 1/2 inch wrench (and/or socket), remove four
mounting bolts holding the pump in position on the
transaxle assembly. One location uses a "lock-nut"
also.
5. The pump should slide freely away from the
transaxle. If necessary, carefully pry the two compo-
nents apart by applying pressure with a long straight
blade screw driver. Use caution to avoid damaging
either component.
6. Remove and discard the O-ring and quad ring used
to seal between the pump and transaxle.

Hydro Pump Installation
Note:
Installation of the pump onto the transaxle will be
easiest with the pump mounting surface positioned fac-
ing up.
1. Place a new O-ring and new quad-ring into position
on the transaxle.
2. Install the pump aligning the splined shaft ends with
the splined coupling and splined input pinion gear of
the transaxle. The two shafts should slide freely into
place. Do not force the pump down. If they do not
slide together freely, remove them and try again.
Alignment of splines may be accomplished by rotat-
ing the brake disc and the input shaft.
3. Install the four bolts (and one nut) and torque to 13-
15 ft lbs..
4. Install the oil lines and fittings.
5. Fill with oil.
