6C Foot Controls Repair
Return-to-Neutral Rod Service -
Tuff Torq K215A Models
The return-to-neutral rod connects the foot pedal arm (H,
Figure C–21) to the neutral return cam on the transmis-
sion.. When the brake pedal is depressed, the return to
neutral-rod returns the transmission linkage to neutral.
1. Using a needle-nose pliers, remove the cotter pin (K)
that secures the clutch rod (E) to the parking brake
cam (I), brake pedal arm (H), and return-to-neutral
rod (M).
2. Remove the clutch rod from the parking brake cam
and brake pedal arm.
3. Remove the carriage bolt that secures the rear end of
the return-to-neutral rod to the neutral return cam.
Inspect and replace parts as necessary. Reassembly
in reverse order of disassembly.

See Figures C– 21 for assembly and part location infor-
mation.
1. Remove the mower deck, and position the unit to per-
mit safe access to the foot control assembly parts.
2. Using a socket wrench, remove the locknut (F) that
secures the foot pedal arm (H) to the brake pedal
assembly (A).
3. Note the position of the brake pedal assembly (A)
and foot pedal arm (H), and slide the brake pedal arm
out of the unit, catching the washers positioned under
the lock nut as the brake pedal assembly arm is re-
moved. (The brake pedal arm, parking brake cam ,
and clutch rod may be left in place, partially assem-
bled.)
