7 Transmission Repair
7C Hydro-Gear 216-3010L
4. Separate the two housing halves by applying pres-
sure (as shown) with two large straight blade screw
drivers. Be careful not to damage the mating sealing
surfaces as you separate the housings. The sealant
will make it difficult to separate the two halves.
Note:
It may be necessary to tap lightly on the exposed
end of the brake shaft assembly as the housings are
being separated so that it remains in the left hand hous-
ing (lower half).

5. Remove the final drive pinion assembly and washer
(A, B, C). Replacement of complete assemblies is
recommended.
6. Remove the differential assembly and triangular
washer (if present) from the housing.
Note:
Later model differential assemblies do not use
triangular washer. Discard washer if installing new differ-
ential assembly. Retain triangular washer only if existing
differential assembly is to be reinstalled.
