Servicing the foot control group assemblies requires
access to the underside of the frame. Remove the
mower deck and elevate unit if necessary. See
Elevating Unit for Safe Service.
Foot Pedal Pad Replacement
See Figure C–3 for specific assembly and parts informa-
tion.
1. Twist the pad to break contact with the pedal arm.
2. Pull the pad off the pedal arm.
3. Apply a light application of soapy water to the end of
the brake pedal arm to act as a lubricant, and slide
the new brake pedal pad on to the brake pedal.
4. Tap the outer portion of the pad with a rubber mallet
to make sure it is fully seated on the arm and won’t
come off when the pedal is depressed.
DANGER
Never work on an elevated unit unless it is
securely supported, and wheels are firmly
chocked to prevent the unit from rolling off or
away from the supports.
DANGER
Always obey all safety precautions for working
around battery hazards such as electrolyte,
hydrogen gas, and live battery terminals when
removing and reinstalling the battery. Always
disconnect the negative terminal cable first, and
reconnect it last, to help prevent dangerous
sparking caused by accidental tool contact
between the positive terminal of the battery and
the frame. Keep the battery level when handling
to prevent leakage of electrolyte.
