Figure 6-5 shows the acceptable CAN1 connections when adding a
second station. If harness lengths allow (see Section 4.3.1), connect
the second helm to the second CAN1 port as shown in a). This
parallel configuration makes it less likely that both helms would be
lost if a wiring harness is damaged.
In some cases the control station layout will require a series
connection as shown in b). This is allowable provided the total
harness length does not exceed 36 feet. This configuration requires
a wye harness (CM21702) in order to have enough CAN1 ports
available at the main station.
If more than two helms are required then a combination of these
connections will be required. In all cases the total harness length to
any component may not exceed 36 feet.
