1. Prepare the machine for service. See “Maintenance
2. Clear any gravel or mud from between the sprocket and
the track link before decreasing track tension
3. Loosen the upper access panel screw (1).
4. Remove the lower access panel screw (3) and swing the
access panel (2) up. Tighten the upper access panel
screw to hold the access panel in place.
5. Position yourself to the side of the grease valve (5)
NOTE:
Do not turn the grease fitting (4).
6. Using the proper tools, slowly loosen the grease valve
counterclockwise, in 90° increments (1/4 turn), to
decrease track tension
NOTE:
The grease will come out from behind the
grease valve.
7. If the grease does not come out smoothly, move the
machine back and forth for a short distance.
8. Check the track tension. When it is correct, turn the
grease valve clockwise.
9. Drive the machine forward at low idle speed for a
distance equivalent to one full revolution of the track.
10. Shut the engine down. See “Engine Shutdown Procedure” on page 4-16.
11. Check the track tension again. Readjust if it is still out of the acceptable range.
WARNING!
• The track tension grease fitting is under extreme pressure, and grease can exit the grease
valve and cause serious injury.
• Wear safety goggles, gloves, and other personal protective equipment (PPE) to prevent
serious injury.
• Do not stand directly in front of the track tension grease fitting valve when loosening the
valve.
Failure to follow these warnings could result in death or serious injury.
