6A-28 ENGINE REPAIR
Timing substitution
Removal
1) Remove:
• Generator and frontal support (see 6A-52).
• Air Conditioning compressor driving belt (see 6A-27).
• Water radiator and air radiator (intercooler) (see 613-8).
2) Disconnect fixings of tubing of thermo starter and the cable
assembly (19). Put apart adequately the tubings and the
electric wiring assemby.
3) Remove screw (27) fixing crankshaft pulley and extract the
pulley.
4) Dismantle upper sound proofing cover (18) and timing upper
cap (20).
5) Turn crankshaft in the rotating direction till aligning mark
(A)
of camshaft gear with mark
(B)
of plungers cover. In this
position, fit tool
(C)
ref. 790965 through hole (22) from flywheel
housing (23), in such a way that is lodged in the engine
flywheel milling (21)
(crankshaft immobile in T.D.C..
position of piston n° 1).
In the same position, fit tool ref.790965 in hole (25) of organs
group driving gear (24), in such a way that it fit in the hole of
block located in front of gear hole (25).
NOTE:
If the three control points are correct, the engine is
ready to take a new belt. If one of them is not properly
aligned, this mean that the belt is too tight or badly
placed.
You should ensure of coincidence in the three control
points before install a new belt, correcting small out
of phases that could be present in order to ensure the
proper alignments .
6) Remove nut (33) fixing the tensioning roller (32).
7) Remove lower cover (26) of timing.
8) Fit the appropriate key (31) between beam (30) and cylinder
(29) to null the pressure that the later do over the belt
tensioning roller (32).
9) Remove timing belt (28).
