Step 4- only when necessary
If the automatic synchronization to the SDIF-2 preambles does not allow satisfactory sound quality
to be transmitted, the frames must be adjusted manually. The mode
MAN Prbl Bad should be
used when testing, as errors are not muted and can be clearly heard in this mode.
In the submenu item
Set RX Sync Position
the window of the receiver buffer can be
adjusted until a flawless audio signal can be discerned. Again: pay careful attention to the level
errors in the 6dB frames, and check again with a change of sample rate and with varispeed.
An error free connection is normally reached in a range of 6 to seven steps. The value to be saved
should lie in the middle of this range.
And if it still doesn’t work ? There could be errors in the configuration of the »send« path (see step
2). If the audio signal is faulty at the input of the SDIF-2 device, no adjustment made here will
solve the problem…
Step 5- Only when necessary
The mode
MAN Prbl Mrg should now be used to test if at least one
valid SDIF-2 preamble is present, which could be used to cause the
audio to mute if input signals are missing. It is necessary to
activate MAN Prbl Mrg
for this to work.
If no other modifications have been made and the audio signal can still be clearly heard, the
preamble is fine. Monitor (again!) with a change of sample rate and with varispeed. If everything is
OK, the mode
MAN Prbl Mrg should now be saved.
However, if you now feel: »It was working a minute ago and now it’s dead!.« go back to
MAN
Prbl Bad
and save this mode.
