The unit
FILM
is ideal for compensating frame buffer transport delay in video technology with
24
F
/
S
.
Therefore the FINE DELAY readout is not necessary. The readout is in the form seconds:
frames: samples. The value of the internal propagation delay (due to the buffers and normal input
to output delay) which is displayed on the bottom right (here
+21 or +6
samples respectively)
should be added to
the delay value shown here.

Measuring the transport time in
m
(meters) is most logical when measuring transport delay
through air, as is necessary in, to take an example, ultrasound technology. The calculation of the
sample rate involves monitoring the »Frequency« bits of the incoming global loop channel status,
and calculating in the effect of the fixed constant of the speed of sound in air of 330
m
/
s
. The value is
converted as accurately as possible. When FINE DELAY is switched on it assists in the
compensation process, otherwise the value is rounded up or down to the next sample. The delay
value shown should be increased by the value of the internal propagation delay (due to the buffers
and normal input to output delay) which is displayed on the bottom right (here
0.14
and
0.04
respectively).

The unit
µs
is used when calculating absolute time delay. This scale can be converted into other
physical factors such as phase angles. The calculation of the sample rate involves monitoring the
»Frequency« bits of the incoming global loop channel status. The value is converted as accurately
as possible. When FINE DELAY is switched on, it assists in the compensation process, otherwise
the value is rounded up or down to the next sample. The delay value shown should be increased by
the value of the internal propagation delay (due to the buffers and normal input to output delay)
which is displayed on the bottom right (here
125
and
437
respectively).
