5.3.1

How to perform a speed measurement

•

Set the print quality to 1x3 dpi in the display.

•

Set the speed of your production line to a slow value.

•

Turn on the transport system of your production line.

•

The current speed will be shown in the printer display.

•

Increase the speed of the transport system. The new speed will be shown in the
printer display.

•

Turn off the transport system.

Checking the speed measurment

Measure the speed of the transport system with an appropriate

measuring device. Compare this measurement with the speed shown
in the printer display. The two values should be equal.

If not check the mounting of the encoder wheel (see chapter 3.4.5
How to mount the encoder wheel, on page 26 for a detailed

description).

How to measure the print media size

The printer continuously monitors the size of the fed products. Therefore the

Quadient

AS-Orbit needs to know the dimension of the paper at the beginning of a new print job.
The dimension can either be measured manually or be sent by a software application.
The dimension values are stored in the printer as reference values, until new
dimensions are measured.

Software application

Sending the correct paper dimensions to the printer, is only available

in software application designed to work together with this

Quadient

printer.

When you are using a software application that is able to send the dimension, you do not
need to manually measure the paper size. However it is still recommended to carry out this
process in order to verify that the media is being fed and recognized properly by the printer.

When using a software application that is not able to send the correct paper dimension, you
must manually measure and set the paper dimension.
