Feedback Loops are Bad
While loopback audio and the Revelator Dynamic mixer makes it really easy to mix and record the sound
of one piece of software into another, there is also the potential to send the output of a software applic-
ation back into itself and create what is known as a “feedback loop.”
Whenever you’re recording using the Revelator Dynamic mixer with an application that offers monitoring,
like Studio One or OBS, you must either disable monitoring or mute the return channel in your Revelator
Dynamic mixer to avoid creating a feedback loop.
Applications like Skype and Zoom have a “mix minus” feature that removes the input signal from the out-
put signal, so you don’t have to worry about this if you’re just recording a video chat. This feature is on by
default, all the time.
