Performance Recovery Wash (Operation Of The Starter Motor)
3.1
Preparation
Note
P&WC recommends to do a compressor turbine desalination wash after the compressor performance
recovery wash, since the compressor performance recovery wash will transfer the salt deposits into the
turbine.
3.1.1
Refer to the vendor instructions and prepare the rinse solution and the wash solution in the Engine
compressor wash rig (Pt.No. T71-010) (wash rig), refer to Table 6, Table 7, Table 8 and Table 9.
Note
To prevent the precipitation of deposits due to the use of “hard” water, allow the engine to cool below
65°C (150°F). The minimum duration for cooling is 40 minutes since last operation.
3.1.2
Pressurize the wash rig to between 2 and 3,5 bar (30 and 50 psi).
3.1.3
Open and install a Safety clip - Circuit breaker hold open (Pt.No. T12-030) on this circuit breaker:
−
IGNITION (ESSENTIAL BUS)
−
STARTER (ESSENTIAL BUS).
3.1.4
Remove the engine cowlings 42AT and 42AB.
3.1.5
Open the engine cowlings 43AL and 43AR.
3.1.6
Remove the clamp Figure 1 [4], gasket Figure 1 [5] and valve Figure 1 [3] from between the P2.5
pipes Figure 1 [2] and Figure 1 [6]. Discard the gasket Figure 1 [5].
3.1.7
Install a ECS blanking disc rig (Pt.No. T71-015) Figure 1 [1] between the P2.5 pipes Figure 1 [2] and
Figure 1 [6] with the clamp Figure 1 [4].
3.1.8
Remove the clamp Figure 1 [16]. Use a suitable tool between the flange Figure 1 [7] and the bracket
Figure 1 [12] to compress the bellows Figure 1 [8] then remove the gasket Figure 1 [15] from between
the P3 pipes Figure 1 [13] and Figure 1 [17]. Discard the gasket Figure 1 [15].
3.1.9
Install a ECS blanking disc rig (Pt.No. T71-015) Figure 1 [14] between the P3 pipes Figure 1 [13] and
Figure 1 [17] with the clamp Figure 1 [16].
3.1.10
Disconnect the flexible hose Figure 1 [11] from the P3 pipe Figure 1 [9].
3.1.11
Install a Blanking cap (Pt.No. Local supply) Figure 1 [10] on the P3 pipe Figure 1 [9].
3.1.12
Remove and discard the lockwire from the exhaust duct cap Figure 1 [20].
