The following is the outline of the steps how to set up LPR Port printing using TCP/IP in
Windows 95 / Windows 98 / Windows Me.
Step 1: Setting up TCP/IP on the computer
Step 2: Setting up TCP/IP for the printer
Select a network printing method before proceeding the step 3.
• When printing
directly from a computer
to the printer, perform steps 3 and 4 on
each computer
(Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me).
• When printing through the shared computer (server), perform steps 3 to 5 on the
server computer (Windows 95, Windows 98 or Windows Me), then perform step 6 on
each client computer (Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows NT 4.0 or
Windows 2000).

Step 5: Sharing the printer port on the server computer

Step 1: Setting up TCP/IP on the computer
If the TCP/IP protocol is already installed on your computer and it is configured, proceed to the
next step. If it is not installed, you need to install TCP/IP in the operating system on the
computer and configure it.
If the administrator manages the IP address, contact him/her to confirm the values before
setting the TCP/IP. Be sure to assign the unique value for the IP address that is not used for
the other devices in the network. Refer to the example of “Using the Network Setup Tool” on
page 9
