16.3 Directory of alarms
The following table provides a complete list of alarms, together with associated interlocks, as
appropriate.
Alarm
Interlock/
description
What to do
Magnet board
Quench detected
Board has triggered
in Quench mode.
If the board is tripping into quench mode when no actual
magnet quench is occurring, try increasing the transient
time and/or raising the voltage limit. If the problem
persists contact Oxford.
Catch detected
A group Catch
sequence has been
triggered.
If the group is tripping into Catch mode incorrectly, try
disabling the Catch function in the Config table (requires
Application firmware 2.2.6.5 or later).
PWM Cutoff
PWM output OFF.
Check the cause – see below. Re-start the unit. If this
persists contact Oxford.
Over temp Rundown
Resistors
Run down resistors
are too hot, PWM
stops.
Re-start the unit. Check rundown resistor fan starts (loud
airflow noise for 2 seconds on start up). If the run-down
fan does not pulse or the problem persists contact
Oxford.
Over temp Sense
Resistor
Sense resistor is too
hot PWM stops.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Overt temp PCB
PCB is too hot, PWM
stops.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Overt temp Sense
amplifier
Error amplifier circuit
is too hot, PWM
stops.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Overt temp Amp 1
Amplifier 1is too hot,
PWM stops.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Overt temp Amp 2
Amplifier 2 is too hot,
PWM stops.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
MSP430 firmware error
Firmware update did
not complete correctly
or firmware is corrupt.
Re-install magnet board firmware.
MSP430 RS-485 failure
Bus error.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Rundown resistors failed Boot check of
rundown resistor
values is out of range.
Re-start the unit. If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Calibration failure
Board calibrations
either corrupt or
missing.
Re-start the unit. Try re-calibrating the board. If the
problem persists re-load board firmware.
Voltage ADC error
V-ADC comms error.
Board will automatically reset. If the problem persists
contact Oxford.
Current ADC error
C-ADC comms error. Board will automatically reset. If the problem persists
contact Oxford.
Voltage ADC not
configured
V-ADC configuration
error.
Board will automatically reset. If the problem persists
contact Oxford.
Voltage out of bounds
Voltage error (may
happen during
Quench).
If the problem persists contact Oxford.
Temperature board
Open circuit
Heater OFF
Look for open circuit on the sensor input
Short circuit
Look for short circuit on the sensor input
