Each Quick Setup page is titled in the top right corner (e.g., page 1 is System Set-
up > Quick Setup 1).
3. Set time and date.
A)
Locate
to the Time & Date screen (System Setup > Quick Setup 2).
B) Choose Time Format as desired (either 24-hour time or 12-hour AM / PM-style
time).
C) Set hours, minutes, and seconds, in that order, using a 24-hour format for en-
tering hours even if you have set the time format to 12-hour.
Seconds will stop advancing when you set hours and minutes. So set sec-
onds last.
D) Choose the desired date format.
E) Set today’s date.
F) If you want the clock to reset itself automatically to conform to Daylight Sav-
ing Time (Summer Time), use the
B
EGINS
and E
NDS
fields to specify when Day-
light Saving Time begins and ends in your area. If you do not wish to use this
feature, leave the
B
EGINS
and
E
NDS
fields set to Off.
Note that the clock will set itself automatically if you have set the 8700i
to synchronize to an Internet timeserver. See
Synchronizing Optimod to a
Network Time Server in page 2-69.
4. Set preemphasis in regional settings screen.
A) Locate to the Regional Settings screen ( S

B) Select the preemphasis (either 75

S) used in your country.
Because there is only one field in this screen, you do not have to

to the Preemphasis field; it will automatically be active.
There may be a slight time delay between when you move the knob and
when the preemphasis indication changes.
You can change the preemphasis later from the I

5. Set External AGC mode.

B) Set the External AGC mode.

Set the field to Y

if you have an external AGC (such as an Orban 1100,
1101, 6300, 8200ST OPTIMOD-Studio, Orban 464A Co-Operator, or similar
AGC) installed at your studio feeding the studio-to-transmitter link. This set-
ting defeats the 8700i’s AGC for all presets.

If you do not have an external AGC installed, set the field to

allows the selected preset to determine the 8700i AGC status.
