Because this is not a signal that is broadcast,

2. Choose and set up the codec.

: Choose the Opus or MP3 codec.
Icecast2 (which

mode also uses) supports the MP3 and Opus codecs.
SHOUTcast2 only supports only MP3.
According to listening tests done using the ABC/HR methodology, at a
given bitrate Opus sounds better than MP3 for most program material:

: To best assess the audio produced by your Optimod, use the
highest bitrate practical for your network connection. We recommend 256
kbps for MP3 and 128 kbps for Opus.


streaming the output of your Optimod’s HD processing chain. For conven-
ience, 44.1 kHz is also available for MP3.

provides a small Icecast2 server running inside the Optimod, but
without support for any metadata like artist, title and similar. There is al-
so no support for Yellow Pages, so this cannot be a public stream. This is
the most convenient streaming mode to observe the Optimod's audio be-
cause it does not require setting up an external SHOUTcast2 or Icecast2
server.
