Set the cross-feed / longitudinal feed (feed rod) (5) movement control handle on the apron
to the up position. The engaging lever for thread-cutting (lead screw, apron nut open) must
be set to the neutral position.
If the described positions have been set, the lathe saddle moves towards the lathe chuck.
In order for the lathe saddle to move toward the tailstock, the feed direction control handle (2)
on headstock has to be in the right-side feed position.
4.18.2 Face turning
Proceed as in straight turning. However, set the feed movement control handle cross feed / lon-
gitudinal feed (feed rod) (8) to the down position. The engaging lever for thread-cutting (lead
screw, apron nut open) must be set to the neutral position.
4.18.3 Rapid traverse
Select the feed direction (8) using the lever.
Actuate the push button (9).
