TRAY FUNCTION
TRAY SLIDING FUNCTION
Before starting to copy multiple documents from the
Automatic Document Feeder (ADF), press the
Collate
button to turn on its light.
The Shift Tray will move forwards or backwards by about
1.6”(4 cm) before each job, making it easy for you to
identify and separate the copied documents. The copies
are automatically output in page order.
The pages are output in the following order:
CLEARING PAPER JAMS
If a paper jam occurs while using the Shift Tray-A1, the
unit displays the message REC. PAPER JAM and an
error number ([1] to [4]). The
Error
light will also blink.
If the error number [1] appears, remove the jammed
paper using the procedure below. If another error
number appears, refer to “Clearing Paper Jams” in
Chapter 7.

1. Open the front cover.
3. Open the left cover.
• Open the left cover gently. Do not apply
excessiveforce.
• The front cover must be opened before
clearing paper jams.
• Remove any paper on the trays before
clearing paper jams.
2. Turn the fixing unit release lever in the direction
indicated by the arrow.
The left cover unlocks and opens slightly.
