Using the Operating System and Utilities
!
Force the processor to stay at the lower 300MHz speed to preserve the battery
when you need the system to run for a long time without an AC source.
Forcing the battery to run at lower speeds slows some applications but extends
the battery life by hours.
!
Force the processor to stay at the higher 600MHz speed when system speed is
necessary, or when the system is running on an AC power source.

Installing the LongRun Utility
The LongRun utility enables you to modify the CPU speed of the system. Higher
processor speed dissipates battery life more quickly. See the section “Transmeta
LongRun Utility” for more detailed information on using the utility.
To install the LongRun utility, run the NEC Customize utility and select
“Install/Uninstall LongRun Utility.” Press the OK button and reboot your system after
the installation has completed.
Setting LongRun Properties
To adjust the default GUI properties of the LongRun utility, right click on the top of the
LongRun dialog title bar and select Properties from the pull-down menu.
