Troubleshooting
PROBLEM
WHAT TO DO
The system does not power on
If you are operating the system on battery
power, check that the battery pack is
correctly inserted.
Check that the battery pack is charged.
If you are using AC power, check that the
electrical outlet in use is working.
The LCD screen is dark or blank
See if your system is in Suspend mode.
The Power Mgmt LED blinks when the
system is in Suspend mode. When
enabled, power management turns off
the LCD backlight. Press the Suspend
button (
Fn-Esc
) or any key to exit
Suspend mode.
If running on battery power, check the
battery. Make sure it has enough power
to run the system. If not, attach the AC
adapter and turn off the system to
recharge the battery.
Check the brightness and contrast
controls for proper adjustment.
Battery power does not last long
Use power-saving modes to conserve
battery power.
Fully recharge the battery pack. If this
does not help, use the Discharge utility
to drain the battery. Then, recharge the
battery pack. See your battery user’s
guide for details.
An optional component does
not work
Make sure the component is securely
installed or connected. Verify that the
system parameter for the I/O port
configuration is set correctly in the SCU.
