4-6 Using the SCU
Video Display
Set the video display type. Choose from the following se-
lections if you are connecting an external monitor. Other-
wise, leave this setting as is.

VGA — default setting
■
CGA80 Column
■
CGA40 Column
■
Monochrome
Preferences
Options available under the Preferences menu are
described next.
Quick Boot
Enable/disable the system to bypass the memory test when
the self-test is performed at start-up.
The default setting is disabled.
Num Lock
Enable/disable Num Lock mode at system start-up. (The
embedded keypad produces the assigned numbers rather
than letters when enabled.) Regardless of this setting, you
can enable and disable Num Lock mode using the Num
Lock key.
The default setting is disabled.
Boot Speed
Set the initial CPU speed. When running on battery power,
the slower speed can extend operating time. Choose from
the following selections.

Fast Clock — default setting

Slow Clock
