2-4 Using Your Versa S
Using Audio
Include sound in your presentation by connecting external
speakers. Plug the speakers into an optional PCMCIA audio
card.
Communicating from Your Office
Versa S gives you a wide range of communications possi-
bilities. You can send e-mail messages, faxes, and files, or
page someone using the Versa S. All you need is the Versa
S, an optional modem, and the right software.
Modem
A modem lets you connect your Versa S to a telephone line.
A PCMCIA modem, which is lightweight and convenient,
slides easily into either PCMCIA slot on the side of your
Versa S. (See Chapter 3.) A number of different modems
can work with your Versa S. See the Versa Series PCMCIA
Guide for a list of PCMCIA modems.
You can also connect an external modem to the COM port
on the back of the Versa S.
Pager
Using VersaPage™, you can page the people with whom
you need immediate contact. All you need is your Versa S,
a paging modem installed in the PCMCIA slot, and the
software.
Data Transfer
Use your modem and network software to transfer files via
a local area network (LAN) to all concerned parties. Send
data out for review, comments, or just to inform those who
need to know.
