Note: The following setting information applies to the primary
and secondary master and slave devices.
Each device menu item displays the hard drive or CD-ROM
identifier if a device is installed.
If you install a hard drive that does not feature auto IDE type
detection or your IDE hard drive was formatted on another
system with parameters different from those reported by the
drive, enter a parameter for each of the fields in the device
submenu.
Bring up a device submenu by pressing Enter. The submenus
include Type, CHS Format, and LBA Format. Each submenu
and its fields are described next.
Type
Auto, None, CD-ROM, IDE Removable, ATAPI Removable,
Other ATAPI, or User
When set to Auto, the values for Cylinders, Heads, Sectors,
and Maximum Capacity are displayed but are read only.
When set to Auto, the BIOS detects what the drive is capable
of, not the translation mechanism that was used to format the
drive. If a drive is run in a mode other than the mode in which
it was partitioned and formatted, unpredictable results may
occur, including data loss.
When set to None, informs the system to ignore this drive.
When set to CD-ROM, IDE Removable, ATAPI Removable, or
Other ATAPI, allows the manual entry of all fields described
next.
When set to User, allows the manual entry of all fields
described next.

Cylinders
When Type is Auto, value in the Cylinders field is auto-
detected and field is read only.
Heads
When Type is Auto, value in Heads field is auto-detected and
field is read only.
Sectors
When Type is Auto, value in Sectors field is auto-detected and
field is read only.
