The SCSI
Select
Utility detects and configures the SCSI controller located on the
system board or an optional SCSI controller board installed in your system. This
utility may be started with a simple key operation while POST is in progress and
requires no specific start-up disk.
The SCSI
Select
Utility is used mainly to set the transfer rate of connected SCSI
device. Use the SCSI
Select
Utility to:

Change default values

Check and/or change SCSI device settings that may conflict with those of
other devices in the server.
Running the
SCSI
Select Utility
You access the SCSI
Select
Utility when you turn on or reboot your system.
To run the utility, perform the following procedure:
1.
Power-on or reboot the system.
2.
When this message appears on the video monitor:
Press Ctrl-A to run SCSI Utility...
3.
Press
Ctrl+A
to run this utility. The SCSI utility starts. When the Adaptec
SCSI Utility detects more than one AIC-79xx host adapter, it displays a
selection menu listing the bus and device number of each adapter. When the
selection menu appears, select the channel you wish to configure as follows:
Bus : Device : Channel

*Internal SCSI connector.

Once you select the adapter, the following screen is displayed:

SCSI Disk Utilities
The utility scans the SCSI bus for SCSI devices, reports a
description of each device. Run these utilities
before
configuring SCSI devices.

If you wish to format a disk, verify disk media, or display a list of devices
and their SCSI IDs, select “SCSI Disk Utilities”. If you wish to configure
the adapter or a device, select “Configure/View Host Adapter Settings”.
