Q) Why does the program temporarily lose focus when trying to read a phone?
A) This is a known issue in CompanionPro and is not a sign of failure of the
application.
Q) Why does CompanionPro launch in the wrong language?
A) You may select the default language of CompanionPro from the Initial
Language setting from the
Tools/Options
menu
Q) How do I know which COM port to select?
A) Most computers have two COM ports. To find out which COM port your iDEN
phone is connected to perform the following steps:
1.
Connect your iDEN unit using the cable provided
2.
Connect the other end of the cable to the back of your computer
3.
Select COM1 from the
Tools/Options
menu and select COM1 from the
Communication Settings
4.
Click on the Read Phone button on the Application Toolbar.
- If your phone is read successfully, your phone is attached to the selected
COM port.
5.
Repeat for all the COM ports available on your machine.
Q) I am unable to read a phone and keep getting the following error:
"Unable to read the phone. Please check to make sure the COM Port Setting is set
correctly from the
Tools/Options
menu. Also, be sure the cable is securely
connected to the iDEN unit, and plugged into the COM port on the computer and
that the battery is fully charged"
A) Check the following:
•
Check the baud rate on the phone and make sure it is set to either 19200 or
Auto. To learn how to change the baud rate setting for your phone, please refer to
your phone’s user guide.
•
Resetting the phone by removing the battery for a few seconds and putting it
back.
•
Try connecting the phone to a different COM Port and change the Selected
COM Port setting in
Tools/Options
under Communication Settings.
Q) My phone reads “Self Check Fail” upon power up.
A) This means that your phone software has been corrupted. Run the Recover
Wizard to try to recover your phone. If you are unable to recover the phone using
CompanionPro, please contact your service provider.
