Task 3: Reading Unit Information from the Phone

on your hard disk, skip this task
and proceed to open the file as detailed on page 71.
To retrieve a
I
DEN C
OMPANION
P
RO
file from your iDEN
®
phone:
1.
Set up the programming hardware as described on page 16.
2.
Select
Tools/Options
. Check the setting in the Selected
COM
Port field.
This setting should refer to the same
COM
Port that the programming cable
is connected to.
3.
Select
Tools/Read Phone
. A progress bar will appear and begin moving
toward 100 percent, indicating the status of the read process. After the
I
DEN
C
OMPANION
P
RO
file
data has been read, CompanionPro will display a
I
DEN C
OMPANION
P
RO
file
window similar to the one on page 71.
4.
When you have completed all the necessary read and/or write operations on
the phone, disconnect the programming cable from the phone.
Never disconnect the data cable from the iDEN
phone or power off the PC during the programming
process. This can cause data to become corrupted
and can damage the unit.
NOTE: If the progress bar does not appear or an error occurs, refer to the
Troubleshooting the Hardware Setup tab (page 94).
NOTE: After every programming operation, the phone is automatically
reset.
