Anti-theft alarm system activation
The anti-theft alarm system will give the
following alarm:
.
The headlights blink and the horn sounds
intermittently.
.
The alarm automatically turns off after
approximately 30 seconds. However, the
alarm reactivates if the vehicle is tampered
with again.
The alarm is activated by:
.
opening any doors, the hood or liftgate
without using the F.A.S.T.-key (even if the
door is unlocked by releasing the door
inside lock knob).
How to stop an activated alarm
The alarm stops only by unlocking a door or the
liftgate with pressing the UNLOCK
button
on the F.A.S.T.-key, or pushing the request
switch (if so equipped) on the driver’s or
passenger’s door in range of the door handle.
The alarm also stops when the ignition switch is
placed in the ON position.
ANTI-THEFT ENGINE IMMO-
BILIZER
CAUTION
.
Do not make any alterations or additions
to the immobilizer system. Alterations or
additions could cause failure of the im-
mobilizer.
The anti-theft engine immobilizer will not allow
the engine to start without the use of the
registered key.
If the engine does not start using the registered
F.A.S.T.-key, it may be due to interference
caused by:
.
Another F.A.S.T.-key.
.
Automated toll road device.
.
Automated payment device.
.
Other devices that transmit similar signals.
Start the engine using the following procedure:
1. Remove any items that may be causing the
interference away from the F.A.S.T.-key.
2. Start the engine again.
If this procedure allows the engine to start,
Mitsubishi Motors recommends placing the
registered F.A.S.T.-key separate from other
devices to avoid interference.
NOTE:
.
The key may not operate properly when
it is near an object or facility that emits
strong electromagnetic waves.
.
Anti-theft engine immobilizer is not
compatible with commercially available
remote starting systems. Use of commer-
cially available remote starting systems
may result in vehicle starting problems
and a loss of security protection.
