2.6 Power Requirements
The Access Gateway operates from a 5 VDC, 12VDC or -48VDC power source. The 5V and 12V units
are supplied with an AC-DC power converter rated for: 100-240VAC 50/60Hz and 5 or 12VDC output at
1.3 Amps.

2.6.1 120/220 VAC Electrical Connection
The Access 4000 operates at 12VDC from a safety and agency approved (CSA/UL etc.) external AC
power adapter. The connector is center positive and 2.5mm x 5.5mm (internal / external) diameter.
The use of an external surge protection device is recommended for improved system reliability.
WARNING:
Use only the supplied AC power adapter and power cord. Use of any other adapter or power
cord not recommended by the manufacturer may violate safety regulations, may cause
malfunction or damage to the system and void the product warranty.

2.6.2 -48VDC Electrical Connection
The Access 4000 with the -48VDC option is designed to operate from an approved -48VDC Separated
or Safety Extra-low Voltage (SELV) commercial battery backed power source used in TELCO Central
Office (CO) applications. A 3-pin power connector – suitable labeled – is provided on the rear of the
unit for connecting the -48VDC power source. The unit is protected against reverse polarity connection
of the -48VDC power source.
