That person could, for example, come into
contact with the vehicle interior, especially if
the person is sitting too close to the cockpit.
If the front passenger seat is occupied,
always ensure that:

The classification of the person in the
front passenger seat is correct and the
front passenger air bag is enabled or
deactivated in accordance with the per‐
son in the front passenger seat.
R
The person is seated properly with a cor‐
rectly fastened seat belt.
R
The front passenger seat has been moved
as far back as possible.

ing situations and implement pre-emptive meas‐
ures to protect the vehicle occupants.

can implement the following meas‐
ures independently of each other:

Tightening the seat belts on the driver's seat
and front passenger seat.

Closing the side windows.
R
Vehicles with sliding sunroof: Closing the
sliding sunroof.
R
Vehicles with memory function: Moving
the front passenger seat to a more favorable
seat position.
R
Vehicles with multicontour seat: Increas‐
ing the air pressure in the seat side bolsters
of the seat backrest.
R
PRE-SAFE
®
Sound: Provided that the multi‐
media system is switched on, generates a
brief noise signal to stimulate the innate pro‐
tective mechanism of a person's hearing.

NOTE Damage caused by objects in the
footwell or behind the seat
The automatic adjustment of the seat posi‐
tion may result in damage to the seat and/or
the object.

If an accident did not occur, the pre-emptive
measures that were taken are reversed. You
will need to perform certain settings your‐
self.

If the seat belt pre-tensioning is not reduced,
move the seat backrest back slightly.
