The electric parking brake is not automatically
applied if the engine is switched off by the ECO
start/stop function.
Releasing the electric parking brake auto‐
matically
The electric parking brake is released when the
following conditions are fulfilled:

The engine is running.
R
The seat belt tongue is inserted into the seat
belt buckle of the driver's seat.
R
The transmission is in position

or
k
and
you depress the accelerator pedal or you
shift from transmission position
j
to
h
or
k
.
R
If the transmission is in position
k
, the
trunk lid must be closed.
If the seat belt tongue is not inserted into the
seat belt buckle of the driver's seat, the follow‐
ing conditions must be fulfilled:

The driver's door is closed.
R
You move the transmission out of transmis‐
sion position

or you have previously
driven faster than 2 mph (3 km/h).

If the transmission is in position

trunk lid must be closed.
If the electric parking brake is released, the

(USA) or

(CANADA) indicator lamp in
the instrument cluster goes out.
