Using "Updates by network"
Since major updates are carried out via
microSD card, you must insert a microSD card
beforehand.
You cannot carry out a major update:
• During international roaming
• While in Airplane mode
• While mounting during USB connection
• If there is insufficient battery level for a
major update
• If there is insufficient free space on a
microSD card for a major update
Packet communication charges are incurred
for a major update using a 3G network. Since
packet communication charges can become
costly, a flat-rate packet rate is strongly
recommended.
Connection to a Wi-Fi network may be
necessary depending on the version of the
software to be updated.
Before updating software via a Wi-Fi network,
configure Wi-Fi settings beforehand and
check that the terminal is connected to a
Wi-Fi network.

Using "Updates by SD card"
To carry out a major update, connect your
FOMA terminal to a PC (P. 117), and
download the update software from the
manufacturer's site (MEDIAS NAVI) to a
microSD card by the PC. For more
information, refer to the manufacturer's site
(MEDIAS NAVI).
You cannot carry out a major update:
• While mounting during USB connection
• if there is insufficient battery level for a
major update
• if there is insufficient free space on a
microSD card for a major update
• After the major update is completed,
manually delete the update software
downloaded to your microSD card (the
software can be safely removed once the
major update has completed normally).
