After connecting trailer brake, the brake pedals have to be locked together to
ensure correct operation of trailer brakes, balanced operation of the tractor brakes.
▶
While operating the tractor / trailer combination, check the air pressure gauge and
trailer brake pressure warning indicator periodically, and if the indicator is turned on,
stop the tractor immediately and check the leakage or faults.
▶
The type of trailer brake has to be matched correctly with the tractor brake system.
Contact your authorized dealer for the details.
▶
Apply the brake pedals several times, ensuring that the air pressure, as indicated

Trailer brake pressure
warning indicator
28
If the trailer brake air pressure is lower than the
designate level, the trailer brake pressure
warning indicator shall be turned on with red
vehicle control error warning indicator (28).
When starting the engine with a trailer
connected into the tractor air brake system,
chock the wheels and release the parking brake
and brake pedals. Wait until the air pressure
builds up to the designated level. The trailer
brake pressure warning indicator may be turned
on until air pressure builds up to the designated
level.
Once required pressure has been reached a
loud “pop” will be heard, signifying that the
unload valve has opened to allow excess
pressure to escape to atmosphere.
Before connecting trailer brake line to the tractor,
stop the engine and apply the parking brake.
Depending on the trailer brake type, you have to
choose the different quick coupler(s). Check the
trailer manufacturers’ instruction manual before
making connections to the tractor air brake
system. The colored quick coupler(s) shall help
your choice. See next page.
Clean the trailer and tractor quick couplers
before connecting the hose(s). Ensure that
connections are secure. Check the trailer brakes
regularly to ensure that they are functioning
correctly.
