PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol)
Point to Point Tunneling Protocol (PPTP) is a service that applies to connections in Europe and Israel only.
1. Enter your settings in the
Specify WAN IP Address
,
Subnet Mask
, and
Default Gateway Address
fields. This
information is provided by your ISP.
2. Enter your User Name and Password. The maximum number of characters is 60.
3. If you select the
Connect on Demand
option, the connection will be disconnected after a specified period of
inactivity (Max Idle Time). If you have been disconnected due to inactivity, Connect on Demand enables the
Router to automatically re-establish your connection as soon as you attempt to access the Internet again.
Enter the number of minutes you want to have elapsed before your Internet access disconnects. The default
is
5
minutes.
If you select the
Keep Alive
option, the Router will keep the connection alive by sending out a few data
packets periodically, so your Internet service thinks that the connection is still active. This option keeps your
connection active indefinitely, even when it sits idle. The default Redial Period is
30
seconds.
4. The MTU (Maximum Transmission Unit) setting specifies the largest packet size permitted for network
transmission. To manually set a value, select
Manual
and enter the value desired in the field provided. You
should leave this value in the 1200 to 1500 range, and most PPTP users should use the value 1460. The
default is
Auto
, which allows the Router to select the best MTU for your Internet connection.
5. Click the
Save Settings
button to save your changes, or click the
Cancel Changes
button to undo them.
