4. Disconnect the system fan cable from the system board. See “System board components” on page 25.
5. Press the four plastic rivets on the top of the system fan with your fingers and then lift the system
fan out of the server.

6. Install a new system fan. See “Installing a system fan” on page 79.
7. If you are instructed to return the old system fan, follow all packaging instructions and use any
packaging materials that are supplied to you for shipping.
Installing a system fan
To install a system fan, do the following:
1. Touch the static-protective package that contains the new system fan to any unpainted surface on the
outside of the server. Then, remove the new system fan from the package.
