Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
1. If applicable, remove the security bezel (see
“Remove the security bezel” on page 137
).
2. Remove both power supplies (see
“Remove a hot-swap power supply unit” on page 124
3. Remove the top covers (see
“Remove the top covers” on page 168
).
4. Remove the air baffle (see
“Remove the air baffle” on page 43
).
5. Remove the fan cage assembly (see
“Remove the fan cage assembly” on page 72
).
Step 2. Disconnect the sideband cable from the power backplane, and disengage the intrusion switch
cable from the power backplane.
Step 3. Hold and lift the power backplane to remove it from the chassis.

After this task is completed
• Install a replacement unit (see
“Install the power backplane” on page 121
).
• If you are instructed to return the component or optional device, follow all packaging instructions, and use
any packaging materials for shipping that are supplied to you.
