Remove the drive cage and trayless drives

About this task
Attention:
• Go over
“Installation Guidelines” on page 41
to ensure that you work with safety.
• Turn off the server and peripheral devices and disconnect the power cords and all external cables (see
“Power off the server” on page 13
).
• If the server is installed in a rack, slide the server out on its rack slide rails to gain access to the top cover,
or remove the server from the rack.

Procedure
Step 1. Make preparations for this task.
1. If applicable, remove the security bezel (see
“Remove the security bezel” on page 137
).
2. Remove the top covers (see
“Remove the top covers” on page 168
).
3. Remove the air baffle (see
“Remove the air baffle” on page 43
).
4. Remove both PCIe riser assemblies (see
“Remove the PCIe riser assemblies and adapters” on
).
5. Remove the fan cage assembly (see
“Remove the fan cage assembly” on page 72
).
6. Remove the M.2 boot adapter (see
“Remove the M.2 boot adapter and drives” on page 90
).
7. Disconnect all the signal and power cables from the system board.
Step 2. Loosen the two captive screws to disengage the drive cage, and remove it.
