With the bearing assemblies removed, carefully operate the hoist and lift the packer panel out of
the hopper. Use care to avoid damaging the hopper.
Inspection and Replacement of Packer Panel
For these tasks, apply the following procedure:
1.
Carefully inspect all pivot, bearing and roller surfaces
for excessive or uneven wear, scoring or
other damage.
2.
Check the panel for broken welds, bent edges or warpage.
3.
Inspect the packer panel edge for damage. Replace a badly worn edge (see

Replace parts as necessary (see Chapter 3
General Repair Practices
).
Replacement of Packer Edge
For this task, apply the following procedure:
1.
Remove the old edge with an air arc to obtain a clean
cut.
2.
Grind smooth the packer panel where the new edge will be attached.
3.
Weld a new edge in place.
