3.8.3.1.2 FastHall™ with Linked Parameters
The FastHall measurement will automatically pull in the parameters determined in
the contact check step. A contact check measurement must have been completed
prior to running a FastHall link measurement. If a resistivity measurement has been
run, the resistivity parameters are pulled into the FastHall measurement as well. If no
resistivity measurement has been run, the FastHall measurement will not calculate a
mobility.
Only the field value is a required parameter when using the measurement link com-
mands. All other parameters are either pulled in from the previous measurements or
set to default values. Any of the default values can be manually overwritten.
The example below runs a FastHall measurement with linked parameters using the
following settings:
D
User defined field reading:
set to 0.5 T
D
Measurement range:
set to 10 V
D
30 samples will be taken
D
Minimum Hall voltage SNR:
set to default
D
Number of voltage compensation samples to average:
set to default
D
Sample thickness:
set to default

3.8.3.2 DC Hall
A DC Hall measurement is available for both van der Pauw and Hall Bar samples. DC
Hall requires the magnet field to physically change from +B to -B in a Hall measure-
ment.
During a DC Hall measurement, the measurement will pause to allow for the user to
manually switch the polarity of their field. This is unique to the DC Hall measurement;
no other measurements require a manual field reversal. During the pause, the instru-
ment’s front panel will indicate that it is waiting for a continue command. Manually
change the polarity of the field, then send the continue SCPI command to have the
measurement complete:
