APPENDIX A - SCPI COMMON COMMAND/QUERY DEFINITIONS
A.1
INTRODUCTION
This appendix defines the SCPI common commands and queries used with the BOP power supply.
Common commands and queries are preceded by an asterisk (*) and are defined and explained in
paragraphs A.2 through A.18, arranged in alphabetical order. Table A-1 provides a quick reference
of all SCPI common commands and queries used in the Interface Card.
A.2
*CLS — CLEAR STATUS COMMAND
*CLS
Syntax:
*CLS
Description:
Clears status data.
Clears the error queue of the instrument. Forces power supply to “operation com-
plete idle” state. Clears all Event Registers summarized in Status Byte Register without affecting the
corresponding Enable Registers: Standard Event Status Register (ESR), Operation Status Event Reg-
ister, Questionable Status Event Register, and Status Byte Register (STB). Related commands: *OPC,
*OPC?. (See example, Figure A-1.)
A.3
*ESE — STANDARD EVENT STATUS ENABLE COMMAND
*ESE
Syntax
:
*ESE <integer> where <integer> = positive whole number: 0 to 255 per Table A-2.
Default Value: 0
Description:
This command programs the standard Event Status Enable register bits.
The contents function
as a mask to determine which events of the Event Status Register (ESR) are allowed to set the ESB
(Event Summary Bit) of the Status Byte Register. Enables the Standard events to be summarized in
the Status Byte register (1 = set = enable function, 0 = reset = disable function). All of the enabled
events of the standard Event Status Enable register are logically ORed to cause ESB (bit 5) of the Sta-
tus Byte Register to be set (1 = set = enable, 0 = reset = disable)
.
(See example, Figure A-1.)
