9-4 SCPI Signal-Oriented Measurement Commands
Models 2510 and 2510-AT User’s Manual
READ?
Description
This command is used to trigger and acquire readings and is identical to
:MEASure?. When this command is sent, the following commands exe-
cute in the order that they are presented:
• :INITiate
• :FETCh?
The :INITiate command starts operation by taking the instrument out of
idle. After all control-measure operations are completed, the Model
2510 goes back into idle at which time the :FETCh? command is exe-
cuted. The readings are sent to the computer and displayed when the
unit is addressed to talk.
INITiate[:IMMediate]
Description
This command is used to trigger readings, but it does not request read-
ings from the unit. The :INITiate command starts operation by taking
the instrument out of idle. After all control-measure operations are com-
pleted, the Model 2510 goes back into idle. There is an implied INIT
with :READ? and :MEAS?, but the Model 2510 does not return to idle
before the next command is executed since the instrument does not sup-
port overlapped :INIT. If a READ? or MEAS? command is sent while
the Model 2510 is taking readings, no INIT ignored error will be
generated.
Command examples
:MEAS:TEMP?
Query temperature.
:MEAS:POW?
Query thermoelectric cooler power.
:MEAS:RES:AC?
Query cooler AC resistance.
