Program Branch MEASURING
5.4 Operational Modes to Set-up
5.4.1 Uncorrected Flow Velocity
For special applications, the knowledge of the uncorrected flow velocity might be of
interest. In program branch SPECIAL FUNCTIONS, you may enable or disable the flow
profile correction for the flow velocity
(see chapter 7.7.4)
.
Additionally by using HotCode definition, the flow profile correction for the flow velocity
can be enabled or disabled and made cold-start resistant.
(See also chapter 2.4.4)
NEXT
Immediately after pushing the BRK key, enter this
key sequence from the MAIN MENU.
>NORMAL< uncorr.
Flow Velocity
After entering the HotCode, this display appears.
The profile correction mode can be changed:
>NORMAL< means that the flow velocity is
always a profile corrected value.
>UNCORR.< provides flow velocities for output
and data storage without flow profile correction.
Confirm your selection by ENTER. The MAIN
MENU will appear again.
Note:
The set operational mode will be kept active even if a power failure or a cold start
(INIT) occurred.
Further explanations
•
In program branch OUTPUT OPTIONS only 'Flow Velocity' will be available for
selection in any case. Whether the corrected or the uncorrected flow velocity will be
provided depends on the set-up being performed by the above procedure at the
beginning of the measurement.
•
Only if 'Flow Velocity' has been selected as the measuring quantity and the
operational mode was set to >UNCORR.<, will the
uncorrected
flow velocity be
output or stored.
The calculation of the other measuring quantities (volume flow, mass flow and heat flow) is
always performed with the profile corrected flow velocity completely independent of the set operational mode.
•
During measurement, the operational mode which is currently set can be identified by
the use of capital letters for the designation of the measuring quantity:
2.60 m/s
FLOW VELOCITY
If ´FLOW VELOCITY´ appears in capital letters,
the measuring value in the lower display is without
profile correction. FLUXUS operates in
>UNCORR.< mode.
2.47 m/s
Flow Velocity
If ´Flow Velocity´ does not completely appear in
capital letters, the measuring value in the lower
display line is the profile corrected flow velocity.
•
Uncorrected flow velocities, which are stored in the memory of the data logger, will be
marked 'UNCORR' near the unit of measurement and the generated ASCII files will be
marked as follows:
Measuring quantity
: Flow velocity
