(1) Positioning the hook
1) After the completon of the adjustment of the needle
bar heght, adjust so that the blade pont of the hook
comes to the center of the ne
edle at the heght of
the “2” of tmng gauge

whch has been suppled
as accessores.
2) At ths tme, the blade pont of the hook should
slghtly come n contact wth the needle when the
needle guard does not touch the needle.
(2) Confirmation
Brng the needle to the leftmost poston of the zgzag
stroke at the tme of the standard zgzag wdth of 8
mm, and confirm that the top end of the needle eyelet
s spaced 0.2 to 0.5 mm away from the blade pont of
the hook. If the zgzag wdth of 10 mm s used or the
shape of ndented part of the needle s dfferent from
that of ndented part of the needle at the tme of de-
lvery, re-adjust the heght of the needle bar.
(3) Adjusting the needle guard
1) Maxmze the zgzag wdth. Bend the needle guard
to adjust so that the needle does not come n contact
wth the blade pont of the both at the leftmost and
rghtmost postons of the zgzag stroke. At ths tme,
adjust the clearance provded between the needle
and the blade pont of the hook to 0 to 0.05 mm.
2) The needle guard functons to keep the needle away
from the blade pont of the hook, thereby preventng
damage to the blade pont of the hook. Whenever
you have replaced the hook wth a new one, be sure
to adjust the poston of the needle guard.
8-8. Adjusting height of the needle bar
1) Set the zgzag wdth to “0”. Brng the needle to the
center of the zgzag stroke.
2) Remove the presser foot, throat plate, semcrcle
plate and feed dog.
3) Place a semcrcle plate on the plane, to whch the
throat plate s to be attached, of the bed. Loosen
setscrew

, and adjust so that from the top sur-
face of semcrcle plate

1. thickness of the semicircle plate is differ-
ent from that of the throat plate. Be sure
to use the semicircle plate when adjusting
the height of the needle bar. Be sure to
perform the adjustment with zigzag width
set to zero and with the needle positioned
at the center of the zigzag stroke.

8-9. Adjusting the needle-to-hook timing and the needle guard
When thread breakage has occurred, there is a case where thread is caught in the hook. Be
sure to perform sewing after removing the thread caught in the hook.
