2.5 CONNECTING TO PNEUMATIC SUPPLY
The operating pressure of the system is approximately 600kpa (90lbs). This can be checked at the gauge
on the regulator at the end of the machine (Fig. 2.5b). Turning clockwise increases pressure.
A good air supply is critical to the performance of your machine. The air needs to be clean, dry and at the
correct pressure. Poor air supply causes all sorts of problems including corrosion, oil contamination and
machine malfunction.

HE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES HAVE BEEN PREPARED TO HELP SOLVE EXISTING AIR PROBLEMS AND TO
ALSO HELP SET UP NEW SYSTEMS
:
1.
The best way to get the water out of the air is to cool the air down.
This
is done in the air compressor and air lines.
2.
Air is never taken from the lowest point:
-
the air from main line is taken from the top of the pipe
-
it then drops down to a drain tap
-
air is then taken above the drain tap
3.
The air receiver should be drained of water at least once a week.
4.
The air drains should be drained once per day.
5.
Air service unit located on the machine needs to be drained daily. Some models are fitted with an
automatic drainer
6.
Systems with high air usage may benefit from fitting an air drier or alternatively a water separator.
