4.5 SETTING UP & OPERATION FLOW CHART
Activity Section
1. Check Compressed Air (5.g/cm²) is connected 2.5
2. Fill up Spray Bottle 3.10
3. Turn POWER on at main isolator switch. 3.1.1
4. Turn key on Operator Panel 3.1.1
5. Turn POWER on Operator Panel (Press green Button on Panel) 3.1.1
6. Select Knife with equal bevel, rounded or sharp edge and diameter to suit width/product to be cut 5.6
7. Engage knife Lock 3.2.4
8. Fit clean backing plates and knife onto Spindle 3.2.2
9. Tighten knife lock nut 3.2.2
10. Disengage knife lock 3.2.4
11. Check Adequate clearance between grinding wheels and knife 3.3
12. Adjust blade zero position to centre of pivot point (brass washer) using jig. 3.4.1
13. Raise mandrel support arm H/H
14. Adjust Knife Forward stop 3.4.2.1

Retract knife away from mandrel.
CAUTION: Ensure sufficient room is left to slide the log roll on without any danger of contact with
the knife which can result in serious hand injury. H/H
16. Lower mandrel support arm H/H
17. Fit log roll H/H
18. Raise mandrel support arm/engage expansion section of mandrel H/H
19. Set up knife rear stop (Outside Diameter of roll plus 5 -20mm for knife clearance) 3.4.2.2
20. Move carriage just past left hand end of log roll. H/H
21. Lower polycarbonate guard (See Section 1.3) H/H

Use manual feed button to check cut off point (Knife to Mandrel) Material O/D plus 5-20mm .. Knife
retracts 5 - 20 mm past O/D of roll. (See Section 1.3)

23. Set left and right hand end stops (See Section 1.4) 3.5.1

Set parameter mandrel/chuck speed (Knife Dwell Timer) number of rotations knife is in contact with
mandrel. Knife RPM. Material Code. Material Thickness
(See Section 1.6)

Data Set up mode. Width. No of cuts. Cutting speed. Blade angle. (See Section 1.7)
Note: First cut counts, therefore enter number of cuts required plus one

26. Move knife to first cut position H/H
27. Press AUTO CUTTING on panel H/H
28. Cutting finished .. Knife/carriage stops in last cut position
29. Mandrel support auto release H/H
30. Knife/Carriage returns to start when new log roll is gripped and mandrel supports is raised.
