DRIVING IN DEEP WATER
If the tractor is driven in water at a
depth greater than 50 mm (2 in) below the
bottom of the clutch housing corrosion
damage can occur to major components.
See your ITMCo Dealer for special water-
proofing instructions, otherwise the War-
ranty may be invalidated.
FOUR—WHEEL DRIVE (Fig. 9)
(Where fitted)
Front-wheel drive transmission greatly
improves traction in difficult conditions.
The drive to the front wheels is designed
to be engaged or disengaged with the trac-
tor stationary or moving.
The tractor is equipped with a me-
chanical type of engagement which can be
engaged or disengaged on the move. An-
ticipate the need for four-wheel drive and
make sure that neither rear wheel is slip-
ping then engage or disengage when the
tractor is moving slowly.
To engage the four-wheel drive push
the control knob ‘DOWN’. A green light on
the instrument panel will indicate engage-
ment.
To disengage pull the control knob ‘UP.
Fig. 9:
IMPORTANT
DO NOT operate the tractor in four-
wheel drive while on the road, as this
will lead to:
Premature front tyre wear.
Excessive fuel consumption.
DIFFERENTIAL LOCK (Fig. 10)
CAUTION
DO NOT drive on the roads, or at high
speeds anywhere with the differential
lock engaged. Steering will be difficult
and may result in an accident. For field
operation, use the differential lock to im-
prove traction, but release it for turning
at row ends.
Fig. 10:.
If a rear wheel starts to slip:
To engage the differential lock:
1. Fully depress the clutch pedal.
2. Push down on the clutch pedal with your
heel, this engages the differential lock.
