SYMPTOM
FAULT
REMEDY
DANGER! – DO NOT ATTEMPT ANY REPAIR UNLESS YOU HAVE PROPER ELECTRICAL TRAINING, QUALIFICATIONS, AND
EQUIPMENT!
Fan is not operating properly
Fan rotation is incorrect
Check wiring. If 3–phase, swap any two fan wires at the 2OL. If
1–phase, replace fan.
Defective fan pressure switch (2RPS)
Remove power and check 2RPS fan pressure switch for continuity
above 17 barg (247 psig) – replace if open.
2OL fan overload tripped
Check trip set point. Reset overload.
Defective fan contactor (2M)
Check for 115 volts at 2M contactor coil and 2RPS switch closed –
replace contactor if contacts are open.
Defective internal fan temperature switch
(TK)
Remove power, allow fan to cool (this may take 1–2 hours) and
check fan temperature switch (TK) for continuity – replace fan if
open
Dewpoint is high
High side and low side pressure is normal
Discharge and inlet air connections have been reversed.
High side pressure is normal, low side
pressure is high
Adjust hot gas valve.
pressure is high
Drain valve is not working properly.
Defective compressor – replace.
High side pressure is high, low side
pressure is high or normal
Inlet temperature, and/or flow is too high. Confirm dryer size for
application.
Condenser coil is dirty – clean coil.
Fan is not operating properly.
Dryer is over charged, or has not been charged with refrigerant as a
liquid.
Air or non–condensibles in system – recover refrigerant, replace
filter drier, evacuate, & recharge.
High side pressure is low, low side
pressure is high
Expansion device is blocked open.
pressure is high
Defective compressor valves – replace compressor.
High side and low side pressure are
correct, evaporator superheat is high.
Adjust thermal expansion valve(s).
Evaporator low temperature
warning
Low side pressure is low, compressor is
cool to the touch
Adjust hot gas valve.
warning
cool to the touch
Dryer is operating in an ambient environment of less than 2
_
C
(35
_
F).
Moisture in the system – recover refrigerant, replace filter drier,
evacuate, & recharge.
High side pressure is high, low side
pressure is low
Restriction in liquid line, filter drier, or expansion device – remove
restriction or replace defective component
Fluctuating high side and low
side pressure
Expansion valve is hunting
Check valve bulb is properly clamped in the correct position (3
o’clock or 9 o’clock, with bulb notch against pipe) and bulb insulated.
Check air distribution on condenser coil is reasonably even –
remove any obstructions.
Replace expansion valve.
Air or non–condensibles in system
Recover refrigerant, replace filter drier, evacuate, & recharge.
Gurgle or pulslng noise at
expansion device or liquid line
Air or non–condensibles in system
Recover refrigerant, replace filter drier, evacuate, & recharge.
